My hands have learnt to listen — to matter, to emotions, to the rhythms of the world. I travel to translate what they hear into poetry and calligraphy.
At Villa Swagatam - Cosmos Foundation, I will carry my calligraphic and pigments experiments further through encounters with Dhaka’s artists, craftspeople and audiences from the city and maybe the Sundarbans mangroves.
Through these encounters, I will listen to the world anew, shaping its echoes into poems and calligraphic traces.
Saena Delacroix-Sadighiyan is a French-Iranian sociologist, writer, poet and calligrapher exploring identity, attachment, peace and hybridity. Alongside her studies in leading international universities (France, UK, Mexico), she studied calligraphy with traditional masters. In 2023, she was appointed to the Chair of Perso-Arabic Calligraphy at the Institut des Cultures d’Islam in Paris, while her first graphic novel, (une nuit), was named a laureate by the International Organisation of La Francophonie. Her acclaimed live calligraphy performances use the human body as a calligraphic tool. In 2026, she was selected for the Villa Salammbô residency in Tunisia and Goethe-Institut’s Halaqât programme in Morocco. Her first essay, on disagreement, is forthcoming in late 2026.
